Workshop: Mapping: depiction, perception and imagination
Facilitated by Bettina Fung and Mara Vivas
How can we collectively imagine and share the world? What does it mean to think imaginatively? This workshop offers a space for us to create a world through shared experience of dance, the spaces we inhabit, and drawing. We will make a map together. This collective mapping activity shines a light on subjective experience, connections across forms, and crossways of thinking, feeling and sharing.
Meeting virtually on Zoom, Mara, Bettina and Mary will encourage participants to explore and develop their imaginative thinking and consider the composition of their own “seeing”. We will watch-see a dance solo and a drawing of the journey of the dance. The latter will serve as a blueprint map on which the collective charting will take place. The individual responses will manifest themselves in the form of intangible/tangible imagery, writing and drawing. This map making experience is a conversational process in which people are world building together. The process itself is utopic.

Workshop: Noticing and Moving Place
Facilitated by Bettina Fung and Colleen Bartley
In this workshop facilitated by artists Colleen Bartley and Bettina Fung | 馮允珊 , we will be working with perceptual awareness, stillness, tuning in to self and practising some gentle movement awareness exercises in preparation for a silent walk in the local area. We will then work in pairs or trios for this silent walk, during which we will be observing and witnessing places, movement, bodies and sensations. There will be opportunities to respond in movement to the place/s found on the walk. After the walk, we will gather to share our findings verbally as well as with movement, drawing and writing.
